On Friday 26th i went round with the map trying to see as many as i could of the Foundry show, 'Here, you are surrounded by ghosts...'
We didn't expect some of them to last long in this city of pissed-up art vandals, some of them were already deemed 'risky' by Foundry, and, tho' they have drawn the line at actally helping people to steal Foundry work, they do exhibit a pleasing disregard for what happens to it
this attempt at documentation is trying to add something ....
Indeed on Friday 26 i even met The Foundry out on the course checking up on some locations. I can't say i saw all the items as intended (the show consists - yes in some places persists - of a series of signs based on road-signs)
reported conversation between Foundry and the Police
"Is that legal what you're doing?"
"Dunno"
Foundry explain it's fringe and it's art and it's OK. Police listen.
"So you wouldn't mind if we took them down again?"
"So you wouldn't mind if we took pictures of you taking them down again?"
Police retire confused over consequences of becoming part of artwork (art of partwork) themselves.
As of today (6/6) one of the pair of signs around the Police station remains. And still works on its own.
Foundry appear to consider what happens to the work to be at most interesting, ultimately irrelevant, and part of the process of the work anyway.
I never found:
sign outside Snow Hill
sign outside PoNaNa
this may or may not be something to do with what Foundry suggested might be the particularly inflammatory nature of these two signs.
I found sign in Sydney Gardens propped against a bin during 1st week (which one?). Next weekend it's gone. I think.
Still remaining to this day:
Railway Station
Police Station II
[...]
anyone found any more?
