The Alternative? So what do you think about the Fringe? - Bath Fringe,
Edinburgh, Adelaide; Fringe Theatre in general; is there such a thing as
Alternative Comedy any more - or has it all become just part of the
mainstream? Alternatively does Fringe = minority interest = just an other
form of elitism; and indeed is that in fact a bad thing. We’ll be
discussing these things and more with Hilary Strong - ex- administrator of
Bath’s own Natural Theatre Co., ex-director of Edinburgh Fringe and
currently running the Grenwich Theatre in London; Bath Fringe’s
chairperson sometime actor/playwright/critic John Wood, and a couple of
Special Guests (see press for details nearer the time). Chairing the
proceedings will be John Struthers, Creative Arts Officer at the
University of Bath.
