Event Title: BEDLAM FAIR

Name of Act:

Venue: THE STREETS OF BATH

Doors Open:

Show Starts: 12:00:00

Blurb: "Why don't we do it in the road?" the Beatles wanted to know, and we at Bath Fringe & Bedlam Fair have been pursuing that line of research for some years now, with the assiduous assistance of experts in the science-not-only-art of doing just about anything in the street, pavement, park. This year, these include Avanti Display, The Fairly Famous Family, the Family Outing (including street-clown guru John Lee), Swervy World Theatre, Stickleback Plasticus, and, we hope, a new outdoor piece from Bath's own Stereophonic Circus. Sometimes past Bedlam has been difficult to find, and though we are still sending off some acts into town with the express instruction to go get into some amusing trouble, we will try and ensure that if you pass by the gardens in front of Windows Art Centre on Lower Borough Walls (just off Southgate) between the hours of 12 and 6 you'll find something either happening or about to. Don't forget too that Bath has resident and regular street performers of very high calibre who can be found by the Pump Rooms (Milburns permitting) and up the pedestrianised streets Union St., Stall St., etc. These are not paid by the festival (you can tell because our performers don't 'hat' for money) and your response is how they make their living... A pound in the hat for an act you enjoyed is the standard unit of appreciation. 12-6pm

Event Title: BEDLAM FAIR

Name of Act:

Venue: THE STREETS OF BATH

Doors Open:

Show Starts: 13:00:00

Blurb: 1-5pm. At this time of year, every year, some of the craziest people in Britain are allowed to wander the streets of Bath in search of diversion. Sometimes, stranger yet, they are joined by equally crazy people from rather further away. If you can't wait for them to find you, come track down some more predictable stupidity (predictable on questions of time and place, that is) in the garden next to Windows Art Centre, as well as in town. Featuring a chocolate box selection of the following: Avanti Display, The Fairly Famous Family, the Family Outing (including street-clown guru John Lee), Swervy World Theatre, Stickleback Plasticus, and, we hope, a new outdoor piece from Bath's own Stereophonic Circus.

Name of Act:

Venue: Walcot Street

Doors Open:

Show Starts: 12:00:00

Blurb: The biggest event of the whole fringe, where we take over the whole of Walcot Street and transform it with stages, stalls, bands, DJs, deranged street theatre (some of it created especially for this event) and an awful lot of dancing. There's a whole field of Kids' events, skate and bike events for kids and for those who ain't really kids at all any more, teas and sitty-downy stuff for the more-grownups, even an archive of Walcot's less-official history if that's your kick. Starring most of the best acts in the region, special guests from USA & Belgium Babazooka street theatre, and a lot of serious hilarity. More details only available in your Walcot nation Passport, available on the street nearer the day and at the borders on Walcot Independence Day itself.
